When it comes to fire safety, early detection is everything.
For businesses, a fire alarm system isn’t just a requirement - it’s what gives you the time to act. The difference between a contained incident and a major disruption often comes down to how quickly a fire is detected and how well your system performs.
At Concept Fire & Security, we provide fire alarm installation, maintenance and servicing for businesses across Cardiff and South Wales.
Every system we install is designed around your premises, your risks and how your business operates day to day.
No two buildings are the same — and your fire alarm system shouldn’t be either.
We design and install fire alarm systems tailored to your environment, considering:
-
the layout and size of your premises
-
how the space is used
-
occupancy levels
-
potential fire risks
From offices in Cardiff city centre to warehouses and industrial units across South Wales, we ensure your system provides the right level of protection without unnecessary complexity.
Our installations are carried out to current UK standards, giving you confidence that your system is fully compliant from day one.

Supporting Businesses Across Cardiff & South Wales

Responsible Person
The Fire Safety Order designates a "responsible person" for fire safety, typically the owner, employer, or occupier of a building. This person must ensure that the premises meet all fire safety regulations.

Fire Risk Assessment
The responsible person must conduct a thorough fire risk assessment to identify potential hazards, assess the risk of those hazards, and implement measures to mitigate them. This assessment must be reviewed regularly and updated as necessary.

Fire Safety Measures
Based on the risk assessment, appropriate fire safety measures must be put in place. These can include:
-
Installing and maintaining fire detection and alarm systems.
-
Providing appropriate fire-fighting equipment, such as fire extinguishers.
-
Ensuring adequate means of escape, including emergency lighting and clearly marked escape routes.
-
Implementing measures for fire containment, such as fire doors and fire-resistant materials.

Training and Information
Employees and other occupants must be informed about fire safety measures and trained in emergency procedures. Regular fire drills are recommended to ensure preparedness.

Emergency Plans
An emergency plan must be prepared and communicated to all building occupants. This plan should include procedures for evacuation, identifying safe assembly points, and accounting for all individuals.

Maintenance and Record Keeping
Fire safety equipment and systems must be regularly maintained and tested. Records of these maintenance activities, as well as the fire risk assessments and training provided, should be kept.

Fire Risk Assessment
You must ensure your Fire Risk Assessment is up-to-date. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005, the responsible person is required to conduct a Fire Safety Risk Assessment and maintain a Fire Management Plan. Failure to comply can result in fines, imprisonment, or both.

Fire Alarm Systems
Concept Fire & Security has earned a strong reputation for delivering high-quality fire alarm systems in Cardiff and the surrounding areas, tailored to meet various needs. We specialise in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems specifically designed for your premises. With a wide range of options available, we provide comprehensive consultations and a free site survey to determine the best fire system for you.

Emergency Lighting
Emergency lighting is crucial for protecting both your building and its occupants. Its primary function is to provide light and clearly mark escape routes to fire exits during an emergency. This system activates automatically when the main power supply fails, ensuring safe evacuation is possible in the event of a fire. We ensure that all emergency lighting installations and maintenance are fully compliant with regulations. According to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, it's essential to equip non-domestic buildings and Houses of Multiple Occupancy with emergency lighting to illuminate exits and escape routes.

Disabled Refuge Alarm
Disabled refuge alarms are required in non-domestic buildings above one story, with refuge areas on all levels, including basements (except the ground floor). These systems allow people in refuge areas to communicate with staff during emergencies, providing reassurance until help arrives.
Concept Fire & Security offers a complete design and maintenance service for disabled refuge systems, including routine inspections in accordance with BS5839 Pt9. Regular maintenance ensures systems remain fully functional for emergency evacuations. We also provide 24/7 support for all disabled refuge systems.

Disabled Toilet Alarm
According to BS8300:2001 standards, new accessible toilets must include a Disabled WC Alarm with an audible alarm and visual LED, a ceiling pull switch with LED, a reset point within reach of a wheelchair, and an overdoor light/sounder to alert nearby persons. The disabled call alarm signal should be distinct from the fire alarm. Concept Fire & Security specialises in installing, maintaining, and testing all major brands of disabled WC alarm systems.

Nurse Call
If you need to restrict access to sensitive parts of your site, or just need to control and monitor who has access to areas in your business, then we can offer a wide range of Access Control Systems! From Fobs to Gates and Ticketed Systems.
